Building a premium custom in-ear monitor brand, from lab to launch
An embedded, multi-workstream engagement — product development, lab operations, brand, website and go-to-market — helping a premium audio manufacturer enter a new category from the ground up.
The challenge
Strong lab foundations, but a new category to enter
This premium audio manufacturer already had genuine strength in custom ear products and lab-based production, but launching into the custom in-ear monitor market meant more than fitting components into a shell. It called for new product development, supplier relationships, staff training, quality standards, a professional brand and a credible route to market — across both consumer and professional audiences.
What we did
A single, structured programme spanning product to launch
POEM was contracted as an embedded specialist to take the business from its existing lab capability through to a market-ready premium product line. That covers product development — driver configurations, shell and faceplate design, prototyping and product tiering — alongside a full review of lab workflow, staff training and quality control, so the product can be manufactured consistently to a premium standard.
Running alongside that: sourcing and liaising with suppliers for components, materials and equipment; developing brand identity, website structure and customer journey; and building the marketing and B2B foundations — from launch messaging to outreach with musicians, studios and music colleges — needed for a confident, credible market entry.
Where things stand
Currently in progress, building toward launch
This is an active, ongoing engagement rather than a finished project. POEM is working alongside the client's team across product development, lab operations, supplier sourcing, brand and website, and go-to-market planning, with a phased path toward a full commercial launch.
